The coasts and inlets of the Costa Tropical were natural harbors for Phoenicians and Romans, spaces for the distribution of fisheries and garum to all points of the Roman Empire; the beaches of the Costa Tropical welcomed the landing of Abd Al Rahman I, founder of the Umayyad dynasty in Al Andalus, its castles in front of the sea were summer residence of the sultans of the kingdom of Granada since the XIII century, their port refuges were essential for the distribution of sugar produced since the Middle Ages on the Tropical Coast.
Closer in time, all our beaches and coves, unique witnesses of the history lived in Andalusia and throughout Spain, have become unique locations for summer enjoyment by our people and all those who visit us. Small coves between cliffs
The proximity of the mountains to the sea cause spectacular cliffs in some areas of the Costa Tropical. There are numerous spaces in which we can enjoy cozy coves and wide, natural and calm beaches that will delight all those who seek beaches and incredible scenery surrounded by Mediterranean and subtropical vegetation. Some of the coves we recommend discover are Calaiza and Berengueles in La Herradura, Cotobro, Tesorillo, Pozuelo, Calabajío and Cabria-Curumbico in Almuñécar, Playa de la Guardia and Punta del Río in Salobreña, Playa Granada in Motril, La Rijana and Cambriles in Castell de Ferro, Cala del Lance and Casarones in Rubite, the Yesos and Melicena in Sorvilán, and Cala Chilches in Albuñol. Naturist beaches
For those who prefer nudism, the Costa Tropical offers four beaches where you can practice naturism. Our naturist beaches are actually coves located in natural spaces outside the most frequented areas. In all cases they are the perfect example of harmony, tranquility and relaxation. Although nudism is allowed, to enjoy these beaches in any case is mandatory.
